H7N9 Avian Influenza- Disease Information
傳播方式 Mode of transmission:
Avian influenza virus will be present in the particles and excretions of infected birds respiratory droplets, human infection through inhalation and contact with the avian influenza virus particles or objects contaminated environment. The mode of transmission of the H7N9 influenza virus is still under investigation.
潛伏期 Incubation period:
H5N1 influenza incubation period is usually about 2 to 8 days, the H7N9 flu is still under investigation. However, current statistic has shown that its incubation period may up to 10 days.

Infected with influenza symptoms are fever, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, runny nose, sore throat and cough, some patients with diarrhea, vomiting and other symptoms. H7N9 influenza cases with severe complications.

Wash your hands frequently with both hands to avoid any touching eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
Maintain good air circulation. Coughing and sneezing need to cover nose and mouth. With fever, cough, sore throat and other respiratory symptoms, one should wear a face mask and seek medical advice, and try not to go to work, not in class.
Avoid contact with birds and their secretions. In case of contact, immediately clean your hands thoroughly with soap.
Cook thoroughly with meal of poultry meat and eggs.
After cooking fresh poultry meat and eggs, wash hands immediately. Moreover, knives and cutting boards should thoroughly be cleaned in order to re-use.
Do not purchase or feed unknown birds.
Try to avoid raw poultry slaughter premises, poultry farms and live poultry markets.
Poultry workers should wear personal protective equipment.
General public should usually develop good personal hygiene habits, proper diet, adequate exercise and rest, to maintain good health.
If one has the history of exposure to birds, endemic areas, people travel history, symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, conjunctivitis- wear a mask and go see a doctor as soon as possible. Take the initiative to inform the history of exposure, work content and travel history.
Every household should have masks as essential health care items.
